After a very short night, we were up at 5:30, to catch the 07:45 ferry from Tsawassen to Duke Point. We got a taxi from the hotel to the ferry terminal and after a 2.25 hour ferry ride, arrived at Duke Point, on the south side of Nanaimo, where we collected a rental car - a Pontiac Montana van, to be precise. After loading all our stuff in the car, we drove to the grocery store in Nanaimo and did a major provisioning run. We were on the road north shortly after noon and arrived at the Quarterdeck Marina in Port Hardy at 17:45. Immediately on arrival, we unloaded the car and boarded "Prairie Rose", so we could hand over the rental car to John van Strien, owner of Nanaimo Yacht Charters and Sailing School (NYCSS), who drove it back to Nanaimo to turn in. Before John left, we tried to interface my PC with the new GPS on the boat, but it would not connect, so John very kindly left his laptop on board. After another long day, we were too tired to walk into town to find a restaurant open in Port Hardy, so the Admiral whipped up scrambled eggs for dinner and we all went to bed.
