Having retired in 2012, my wife and I departed Houston, TX in February 2013, planning to take our time completing the American Great Loop, with no particular time-line. We bought the boat, a 2006 Beneteau 423 sailboat in late 2011. We owned a smaller sailboat years ago and have 40 or 50 weeks cumulative experience chartering sailboats in the Pacific NW and the Mediterranean Sea.
American Great Loop - 2013
After buying our (new to us) boat "c'est le bon", a 2006 Beneteau 423 sloop in late 2011, we started our loosely-planned multi-year cruise through the American Great Loop, commencing in Kemah, TX (Galveston Bay) and ending the cruising season in Wilmington, NC.
