2 Feb 13

After a send-off from Waterford Harbor Marina by friends and family from Houston and dock neighbors, Terri and I pulled out of our slip at 21:00 (that's 9:00 pm to you land-lubbers) on Saturday night, 2 Feb 13, and motored in pitch dark across Galveston Bay to anchor at Redfish Island. We were on the hook and settled in by about 23:30. A minor inconvenience is that the anchor windlass did not work for reasons unknown, so I just lowered the anchor and chain by hand. The reason for pulling out Saturday evening instead of Sunday morning was the tide; low tide was at 8:00 Sunday morning and we would not have been able to get out of our slip until nearly noon.
