We rousted ourselves about 9:00 and I tried the generator again; it works fine now, so I guess it just over-heated last night, which does not bode well for any plans we have to stop on either a mooring ball or the anchor - don’t know how we will keep cool. After breakfast, dropped the mooring and moved to the marina; oh, sweet shore power and continuous A/C, as it is hot as hell today, humid and absolutely no wind. We went ashore to check out the Saturday farmer’s market and Terri bought some greens (kale, lettuce and water-cress) and fresh bread. Then the rental car guys collected us. We bought a bunch of fresh, Georgia peaches (delicious) from a roadside vendor, finished shopping at Publix and picked up the mail delivery at the UPS store, then back to the boat. I thought I would check out the local hardware store and see if I could buy a tap (to re-thread the static holder on the furling unit); turns out they did not have a tap to fit my existing 6mm screw, but they had a 1/4” screw the same shape and length and a tap to go with it for only $4.96; the slightly bigger screw is better because the hole where I buggered up the threads is slightly too big for a 6 mm screw anyway. Back on the boat, I re-tapped the hole, reassembled the furling gear and pulled the new furling line. Finally, all done with that chore! And the really good news: Tropical Storm Dorian has dissipated in the mid-Atlantic, so we do not have to look for hurricane holes for a while yet.

Since I popped a couple of decongestants before bed last night, I slept in till nearly 09:00. After I regained consciousness, we went for a drive up to St. Mary’s, Georgia and the surrounding countryside. St. Mary’s was a nice, quaint little historic town; now that we have seen it, we probably won’t bother to go back in the boat. The drive through rural SE Georgia was otherwise unremarkable, but at least cool inside the car.
