After a very restful night’s sleep, we were up early-ish. I teak-oiled the toe-rails again and at 09:30, we slipped our mooring and headed for the entry to the Cape Ann Canal, passing by the Blynman Road Bascule Bridge at 09:45, about 30 minutes before LW. We touched the bottom and stopped about half way along the canal, in dead mid-channel, but worked our way off after about 7 minutes. The rest of the trip through the canal was uneventful, but very pretty. We made it to Gosport Harbor, in the Isles of Shoals just after 14:00, but there were no mooring balls available and the anchorage was very busy, so we motored around to the alternate anchorage at Smuttynose Island, where we were the only boat. This anchorage is very protected from the prevailing SW wind, but unfortunately, there was long period ocean swell coming in from the SE that rolled us broadside every few minutes. 42-58.822’N, 070-36.364’W.
