Clear and cool this morning with a light northerly breeze. “Abraxas” got away early to catch the 07:30 bridge opening. “Ra” said they were planning to leave at 06:30, but they are still here. We motored the 18 miles up the Pasquotank River to the start of Turner’s Cut, which is just south of the South Mills Lock, and anchored about a half mile out of the main channel. We did not see another boat for the rest of the day or the night. We found out later that “Raison d’Etre” and “Ra” passed us late in the afternoon. We also did not see any wild life, but after dark, the fire-flies came out in force; have not seen those for many a year.
