The USCG “Eagle” (tall training ship for USCG cadets) came into port this morning and berthed just a few feet from us. It was fun watching them come in and we got a bunch of photos. They were actually due in on Thursday afternoon, but got knocked around and delayed by the bad weather we suffered through this past few days. Apparently, their crew suffered a number of broken bones and a few were even med-evaced. Jimmy and Susan left on “Great Notion” about 10:00 on their way to Oriental. They have to be in Norfolk, VA by 4 Apr for a crew change. Hope to see them again when we pass through NJ or perhaps later this summer in Long Island sound. “c’est le bon” got underway about noon and we motored up the Adam’s Creek Canal north of Morehead City/Beaufort in 25 to 40 knots of S wind to Cedar Creek. We unfurled the genoa for a bit, but it did not have much positive impact and was a bit troublesome since we were sailing dead downwind. While furling it, the Spinlock line clutch on the furling line broke - another chore to add to the list. Two other boats were anchored there when we came in, but they left shortly after we arrived, apparently headed for Oriental, so now we have the anchorage to ourselves. We anchored in 7.5 feet of water with 70 feet of chain and the big Manson ray anchor.
