Having retired in 2012, my wife and I departed Houston, TX in February 2013, planning to take our time completing the American Great Loop, with no particular time-line. We bought the boat, a 2006 Beneteau 423 sailboat in late 2011. We owned a smaller sailboat years ago and have 40 or 50 weeks cumulative experience chartering sailboats in the Pacific NW and the Mediterranean Sea.
American Great Loop - 2017
Season 5 of our American Great Loop adventure on our 2006 Beneteau 423 sailboat. This year, we carried on from the winter storage place in Kingston, NY, through the Erie Canal, Lakes Erie, Huron and Michigan and south through the rivers to Mobile, AL, where we "crossed our wake" and finished our loop.
