We were awakened just after 06:00, as our neighbors made their preparations for their early departure to Port Elgin. But, once awakened, we could not get back to sleep, so we were up well before 07:00. Dock lines were slipped by 07:45 and we nosed out of Bayfield into beautiful Lake Huron. About 11:00, the wind was up to SSW 15 - 18, so we shut down the infernal combustion machine and sailed along under jib alone for the next 3 hours, all the rest of the way to Kincardine, where we tied up at the dock at 14:00. After checking in, we walked around town for a couple of hours and enjoyed a beer on the terrace of the Bruce Inn, overlooking the marina and the lake. Then, it was back to the boat for dinner aboard.

Oh, Canada. Happy Canada Day, y’all. The weather, contravening Constitutional requirement in Canada, was cool and rainy in the morning. However, after the morning parade was completed, it cleared up and was really nice in the afternoon, until a light fog rolled in. But then, by 18:00, it was fine again. The Admiral was not in top form, so we hung around the boat and took it easy, although we did go for a short walk along the south boardwalk and back up into town in the mid-afternoon. After dinner aboard, we walked up into town to enjoy the weekly Saturday evening entertainment by the Scottish pipe bands, followed by Canada Day fireworks, which we watched from the boat. We need to make progress north and the forecast does not look so good on Monday, so we may go for Tobermory (67 N-m) tomorrow.
