The day dawned clear and fresh and the forecast is good for heading down-river; we got underway, after extended good-byes to Yves and Teresa (“Nanjabar IV”), our dock-mates from Montreal, at 10:00. We took the scenic route via the Navy Islands, Sherbrooke Islands, under the Canadian span of the International Bridge, along the north side of Grenadier Island, a quick circuit of Singer Castle on Jorstadt (aka Dark) Island, and on to Brockville, a total of 30 N-m, arriving at the Brockville Municipal Marina at 14:20. Brockville is another nice, once-prosperous town on the St. Lawrence Seaway that is currently struggling to re-define itself in the post-mill, post-logging era. The town square is full of elegant stone buildings, still in very good shape and there are a few condo developments along the waterfront. We walked into town for a few fresh groceries, then back to the boat for happy hour and dinner aboard.
