Happy Bastille Day. Vive la France!! We were on the go again by 08:30 to catch the last of the ebb tide up Discovery Passage to Campbell River. There was not much wind, so we motored most of the way. However, north of Mittelnatch Island, as we were ahead of schedule and the wind freed up a bit, I sailed for nearly an hour. Along the way, I saw a number of whales, humpbacks I think, blowing and sounding. We tied up at Fisherman’s Wharf Marina in Campbell River, BC about 12:20. After lunch, we walked into town to the marine hardware store, but nobody was able to help with the main furling coil. Dinner aboard - the last of the French Creek salmon.

John and I were up early preparing the boats for the arrival of the Admirals. We walked over the the Sunday morning farmer’s market and bought a few supplies. After a morning of cleaning house, we walked up to Campbleton to refill our propane tanks. I came back and did a load of laundry, then the Admirals flight finally arrived. To celebrate, we took them to dinner at Quay West.

We were all up about 09:00 to continue preparations for the run north. More laundry was done, I pumped out the aft HT and got another coat of Le Tonkinois on the port-side toe-rail. After lunch, we did a major grocery run, with a stop at the liquor store, while John bought some fresh fish for dinner from Crabby Bob’s. We had dinner aboard and an early night. Tomorrow, we are headed through the notorious Seymour Narrows. The last time we tackled this obstacle, we had to contend with multiple tug/barges and a cruise ship in the narrows, all while battling 40 - 50 knot gusts on the nose.
