Although we were in bed early last night, we slept in until well past 08:00; shocking sloth, but that is the cruising life. After breakfast, we decided to move down to Clam Bay on Thetis Island, which is a bit more protected from SE winds. We had a nice sail down through the islands, even though it was to windward, and arrived at the anchorage at 13:30. “Massilia” rafted alongside again. It rained a fair bit during the afternoon, so we did not go for a row and a walk ashore as originally planned. Happy hour and dinner aboard. After dinner, John and I had a bit of a jam session and he continued to learn how to play the harmonica; progress was made.

We slept in again until well past 08:00; such decadence. As we had decided not to move anywhere today, we hung out on the boat until about 11:00, and then rowed through the gut between Thetis and Kuper Islands to Telegraph Harbor Marina and went for a walk ashore. After checking out the local market and buying a few groceries, we walked to the east side of Thetis Island to Clam Bay Road to see if we could find a place with beach access, as an alternative place to land the dinghies; there is beach access, but it is very rocky and exposed and I would not feel happy about leaving the dinghy there while we walked the 1.5 miles into town. It is only a little bit further to row to Telegraph Harbor than to the beach anyway (depending on the wind direction). They no longer serve lunch at the marina, so we rowed back to the boats, arriving about 13:00, after a long, upwind this time, row back. In the afternoon, I read up on AGM batteries and continued my study of the situation, including additional records of the discharge rate and readings. We ran the generator for a couple of hours to top up. During this period, the Admiral started to brew up a nice cabbage soup. We emptied the 1st propane tank of the year, so I changed out #1 for #2, and we still have #3 in reserve. I also applied another coat of Le Tonkinois to the companionway rails; they are looking pretty sharp, if I do say so myself. And then, after a brief nap, it was time for happy hour and dinner aboard. After a beautiful sunset, we all turned in well before 22:00.
