Another beautiful day in paradise; the dawn was clear and warm and calm, but the smoke was even worse than yesterday. We lazed around most of the morning. Before, lunch, John and I were doing a bit of planning on “Massilia”; when I moved back to our boat for lunch, with my laptop and iPhone in one hand, the charge cord caught on the stanchion and flipped the iPhone out of my hand and straight over the side, with a splash. Fuuuuuuck! Or words to that effect. All I could think of was all my contacts and all of my really useful Apps;  not to mention the 100 or so hours that I had invested in my OnSong song inventory. I was a bit upset, as you might imagine. But then, Laurie said she thought her new iPhone was water-proof (which I did not think would be of any value in 2.8 m of salt-water immersion. But I thought it might be useful to recover the Sim card anyway, so I donned snorkel and mask and fins and went over the side and there it was, immediately below where I dropped it, easily visible; and when I turned it over, the lights were still on. Back on board, we rinsed it off with fresh water, stuck it in a box of rice and sprayed all of the charge ports, buttons and speaker ports with T-9 anti-corrosion spray. Two hours later, I dared to plug it into the charger and everything seems fine. Amazing; I am an iPhone believer forever.  And then, after lunch, went for a long-ish walk up to the north cove on Wallace Island, then back along the west shore to the entry to Connover Cove, and back. We all, except the Admiral, had a quick swim and all enjoyed a lovely, warm solar shower. Captain’s Hour and dinner aboard. After dinner, we had another nice sing-along and even played a couple of requests from our fellow boaters.

There was a tidal gate to negotiate at Porlier Pass; we needed to be through there before the turn at 09:40. So, we were up to the alarm at 07:15, and had the hook up by 08:15. We stopped off in Silva Bay to see if we could get some fresh fruit, but 4 apples was all they had. After we left Silva Bay, the SE wind had strengthened enough that we were able to hoist the spinnaker, and had a nice downwind broad reach for 4 hours. About 16:00 the wind dropped from SE 10-14 to SSE 5-8. So, we doused the spinnaker and motored on in the rest of the way. There were more boats anchored in Long Bay and the other nooks on the SW side of Jedediah Island, so we were sure that Deep Bay would be absolutely full, but when we turned the corner into the bay, there was lots of room. We went all the way in, anchored and picked up a shore line on the north side of the bay. We were all secured by 17:30; “Massilia” arrived about 18:10 and we shortly settled in for Captain’s Hour.
