After a lovely, quiet night, I woke up at 05:00 and could not get back to sleep. I finally got out of bed at 06:00 and put the kettle on. It was overcast, semi-foggy and cool, but I enjoyed a sunrise in the cockpit anyway, with a hot cup of coffee in my hands and a think blanket over me as I read the morning news. We let go the mooring ball at 08:40 and motored around the south end of Hope Island (looks like a pretty nice anchorage, if the wind is not out of the south. We carried on through the Swinnomish Channel and were tied up in our berth at Cap Sante Marina by 12:30, having topped up the fuel tank and pumped out the holding tanks on the way in. Woody - IceBoat Marine - showed up at 13:00 and immediately set to work pulling the new cable and installing the MPPT controller for the new solar panel. That work took all afternoon, but the boat is back together on the inside and all that is left is to install the actual panel and hook it up. Naturally, I had to clear out the port-side lazarette locker, which had about 30 or so old dock lines, some of which were sized and designed to cope with hurricanes or serious storms for a boat that is always at a marina somewhere. Anyway, I decided to do a serious cull and spent part of the afternoon inspecting the various lines, sizing them and deciding which ones are surplus to requirements. We knocked off on the solar panel installation about 17:30, enjoyed a quick Captain’s Hour and then walked over to, where else, Island Cafe for dinner.
