We slept like logs and woke up about 07:45. I had 3 voice-mails and a couple of e-mails waiting from Expedia, wondering if we were still planning to check into the hotel in Winnemucca - last night; unfortunately, it appears I had made the reservations for the wrong night. I spent the next half hour getting a new reservation for the night and checking to make sure that we had a proper reservation at Crater Lake; we do. The Driftwood did not offer breakfast, but recommended Oscar’s Cafe, up the road, so we went there for an excellent breakfast, then finally got on the road about 09:40. Not much to say after that - 515 miles in just under 8 hours. It got up to 91F by mid-afternoon, but we were not troubled by the heat. The only problem was 3 bits of roadwork which slowed us down a little, but only by a few minutes altogether. We checked into the Town House Motel in Winnemucca, NV about 16:40, only to realize that I had left the box with spare tonic (and a half bottle of gin) in the hotel room in Springdale; bugger. So, I made a quick run to the local liquor store to stock up on tonic and gin. After a refreshing cocktail, we drove to Bakarri’s Basque restaurant for an unremarkable dinner, followed by an early evening.
