A quiet night in Vancouver, so we slept very well, finally dragging out about 08:10. The forecast is good for crossing the Strait of Georgia, so we got ready to go, until a phone call from the Admiral’s sister-in-law, Tessie, advised that Luke is in hospital being treated for deep vein thrombosis. He seems to be doing OK, although it is scary any time one has to go into hospital; we wish him well. After that scare, we finally got going about 10:25. Propane tank #3 ran out, so I switched over to #1. After fueling up at the fuel dock, we motored out into English Bay and headed west. Out in the Strait the wind picked up to SE 10 (even though the forecast was NW 10-15), so the engine was killed at 12:34 and we had a lovely sail all the way to the east entrance to Gabriola Passage, which we entered at 15:27. Degnan Bay is halfway through the passage and we entertained thoughts of anchoring there and going ashore to look at the petroglyphs that are said to be visible nearby. But there was not enough room to get a hook down between all the mooring buoys and we did not want to tie up to the public dock for the night, so we moved on to Pirate’s Cove, where we anchored at 16:25 in exactly the same spot we were in when we were here with Jim and Robin 6 weeks ago. Happy hour and dinner aboard.
