Ashley’s last day aboard, so we were up relatively early to make the most of it. We had the anchor up before 10:00 and, after pulling the prawn trap (1 prawn), we motored over to Refuge Cove for a burger and an ice cream. By 12:30, we had to get moving to make it to Powell River in time for Ashley’s flight to Vancouver. Along the way, just to the SE of Harwood Island, we encountered a pod of 4 or 5 humpback whales and slowed down for a few minutes to watch them. We were tied up at Westview Harbour Marina at 16:10 and immediately went up to catch the taxi to the grocery store (for us) and the airport (for Ashley). Tearful goodbyes all round followed by a mad dash to get the shopping in and still catch the 16:55 courtesy bus back to the marina; we just missed it, but then figured out that the #2 bus gets us pretty close to the marina and is much more economical than a taxi. It was hot - 30 C - on the boat in the marina, but the temp dropped rapidly after sunset. We got Thai take-out for dinner and spent the evening cleaning the boat, topping up water tanks and stowing away all of the victuals. Early to bed.
