I waked up at about 03:00, again, and had trouble getting back to sleep, but we finally crawled out of bed just after 07:00. After a quick breakfast, we got the anchor up just after 08:00 and headed out. It was pretty foggy going across Wright Sound and at the top end of Whale Passage, but lifted nicely as we got into McKay Reach, although we had intermittent sprinkles and drizzle all morning. The wind stayed calm and the flood tide helped us a bit, so we pulled into Bishop Bay just after 12:00. There was only one boat (a 60 ft power boat) in the bay when we came in, but they were tied to the only mooring ball. However, I could see that they were lashing their dinghy down on the top deck and securing their crane, so we gave them a close pass and they confirmed they were just about to leave. We loitered for 10 minutes, then grabbed the ball as soon as they pulled out. Just as we settled down for lunch, three humpback whales circled the bay, feeding, so we got several videos of them surfacing very close by with lots of tails; very cool. Terri spent two or three hours on the phone talking with Eileen, so I watched the Astros beat Boston 7-4; then, I rowed over for a nice solo soak in the hot tub. By the time I came out, there were 3 boats tied to the dock. But at least it had stopped raining for a bit, so I got back to the boat wearing only my T-shirts and shorts. We enjoyed dinner in the rain.
