Jake got in late last night, so he did not stir when we got up at 05:50 (again) to catch the flood up Chatham Strait. We were out of the bay and into the Strait by 06:30; I had one quick look at a humpback whale on the way out of the bay. It was cold and foggy, with a light SE wind pushing us up the strait. The course turned to the left into Peril Strait as we passed Thatcher Point just after 09:00. The wind bent around to the East and strengthened in Peril Strait, so we were able to sail for more than 2 hours. We were originally planning to stop for the night at Appleton Cove, but we were still getting a push from the current, so we decided to push on to Adams Channel Bight, which is just north of the Sergius Narrows and only 30 miles from Sitka. As we pulled into the bight, another sailboat - “Teka”, out of Victoria - was already anchored, but they called on the VHF and advised that they were about to pull out to catch SW at Sergius Narrows, and thence on to Sitka this evening. He then asked if we were the “c’est le bon” mentioned in the PLB incident article just published in Good Old Boat.  I was very pleased to advise that it was indeed us; he said he had just read the article yesterday. That was very gratifying. We had the hook down and engine off at 14:33, and settled in for a rainy afternoon. After dinner, it stopped raining and cleared up a bit and we had a great evening, enjoying the sunset and the reflections on the super-still water.
