The alarm shocked me out of a sound sleep at 05:30 and we got up to get ready to go. It was heavily overcast and somewhat darker than this time yesterday morning, so we waited until 06:30 to get underway. “Catalyst” was already gone by the time I stuck my head up. It was essentially calm out in Fitzhugh Sound, although we could feel a long period swell rolling in from the SW. The closer we got to Cape Caution, the more pronounced the swell got, but there was still no wind to speak of. We nevertheless headed for the 100 m contour off Cape Caution, out of an abundance of caution, to make sure the seastate did not become too exciting. Along with “Catalyst”, there were a number of fishing and pleasure craft heading south round Cape Caution ahead and behind us; I guess they all heard the same weather forecast. We rounded Cape Caution (for the 5th time) without incident at 09:48 at about 1.0 N-m distant; this is well inside the 100 m contour, but I had watched several other boats cut the corner with no apparent ill effects, so followed suit. As soon as we were around the corner, the swells were behind us and pushing against the ebb current running out of Queen Charlotte Strait at about 0.5 kn. The long period, 2 m swells were very interesting to experience and observe. We turned into Miles Inlet at 11:15 and were comfortably anchored by 11:40, in the same spot at which we anchored in 2018, on our way up to Rivers Inlet. It is still just as beautiful. The Astros completed a 3-game sweep (cumulative score of 39 - 10) of the slumping Rangers and are now leading the AL West (1 game ahead of the Mariners and 3 games ahead of the Rangers). Yah, man!!

We slept in until 08:00. After breakfast, we lazed around reading and talking to Ashley and Eileen on the phone pretty much all day, until happy hour. A good day.
