It rained off and on through the night, but we sprang out of bed at 06:00, when the alarm went off. I had the anchor aweigh at 06:38 and we motored slowly toward the rapids, slightly ahead of schedule. The rapids looked calm when we approached, so we shot on through at 07:40. It was foggy and misty all the way through the rapids and all the way down Endicott Arm to the bar, which we crossed at 09:47. Our original plan was to head over to Snug Cove on Admiralty Island, en route to Kake, but a bit of research confirmed that fuel is not readily available at Kake, so we changed course and headed for Fanshaw Bay, to be ready to head to Petersburg tomorrow. We will pick up the route later at Hole in the Wall. About 4.5 miles NW of Five Fingers Lighthouse, we stopped to watch a couple of humpback whales feeding near our route. We turned off the engine and drifted for a few minutes. While we were doing this, we realized that there were more than a dozen whales feeding all around us; very cool. A few minutes later, we came across another whale taking a snooze. We finally made it into the anchorage at 14:36. Just in time to watch the Astros @ Baltimore; Astros came from behind to win 7-6, off a Kyle Tucker grand-slam in the top of the 9th, which erased a 3-run error he made in the 2nd - what a game!! And then, after dinner, the sun came out and warmed us up, so it was a very good day.
