Our night’s sleep was interrupted at about 00:30, when the wind died off and the tide changed, resulting in the boat swinging around, dragging the anchor chain loudly across the bottom and waking us up. I got up and turned on the instruments, but after watching the situation for about 30 minutes, was satisfied that the anchor was still well-hooked and so, went back to bed. When we got up about 08:00, the wind was still SW 15-20, but we decided to try for Mudhole anchorage. We got as far as Roque Harbor and it was ugly outside, so we decided enough was enough and ducked into Roque, where we anchored at noon at the north end of the bay. After lunch, we went for a long walk on the beautiful sand beach. Upon returning to the boat, we decided that it was still too rolly (Roque is famous for that), so we relocated across the bay to Lakeman Harbor, which is more exposed to the SW wind, but has no cross-swell. We were anchored with the anchor-riding sail set by 16:00 and settled in for the evening. This is a fine anchorage, but we are not getting much closer to NE Harbor and Portland.
