We both woke up at 05:00, but dozed intermittently until 07:30. It is another gorgeous day here in Maine; clear and warm with a light NE wind. Today’s planned journey was only 17 miles, so there was no particular rush. However, we got the hook up (another 10 bucket wash-down; that wash-down pump is looking more and more attractive) about 10:00 and headed back down the Johns River, through Thread of Life channel, leaving Shipley Point close to starboard, across the mouth of the Damariscotta River, around Limekiln Neck, across Limekiln Bay and into Boothbay Harbor. We did not go into Boothbay, having been there before, but instead headed for the Townsend Gut, through the 12:30 opening of the Southport Island swing bridge, into Ebenecook Harbor and finally into Love Cove, where we anchored at 13:00. As soon as we were settled, we unshipped “Swallow” and rowed over to Hodgeson Marine in hopes of getting a long set of jumper cables so I can try to start the generator, but they were closed for the weekend. So, we walked into West Southport, bought an ice-cream and a newspaper and walked back. Back on the boat, I went for a sail around the harbor in “Swallow”, returning just in time for happy hour. Another beautiful little, bullet-proof cove, with 3 local boats close at hand on mooring balls.
