The tide is fair at the east end of the Cape Cod Canal at 15:35 and it is 49 N-miles from Manchester-by-the-Sea to there, so we were up an away shortly after 08:00. Just outside Manchester harbor, it became apparent that the boat symbol on the chart plotter was not lined up with the real world; don’t know why (i.e., was this caused by the work on the back-stay, which obviously (temporarily) re-oriented the radar and the GPS antenna?), but it was a bit annoying. We thought about heading back in, but decided we would persevere, with more than enough talent and skill aboard to coastal-navigate the old-fashioned way down the coast to the canal entrance; and besides, the GPS position was still showing correctly, even if the apparent heading was not. We motored and sailed and motor-sailed and even had a couple of hours of spinnaker run before we made it down to the canal entrance; altogether, an excellent run. We made it to the east end of the canal at 16:00; the wind there was SW 12-15, so the turn of the current to SW was delayed a bit, but we still had a favorable current through most of the canal and got into Onset harbor (55.8 N-m overall), where we picked up a mooring ball at Brewer’s Onset Harbor Marina just in time for 17:00 happy hour, followed by dinner aboard. After dinner, we were treated to another beautiful sunset.
