And yet another beautiful, clear, cool morning. We topped up the water tanks, washed the boat, and headed into town to look for industrial strength velcro. The frame shop agreed to frame our print of “Iverna Yacht at Full Sail, 1895”. We also had to stop at the UPS store and get a bit more fruit for the next leg of our journeys. Then, time for a quick lunch, goodbyes to Paula and Jim, pump out the holding tanks and depart on the flood tide for a quick trip up the Wacamaw River to an excellent anchorage at Jericho Creek. Traveling up the Waccamaw River from Georgetown is almost certainly the prettiest stretch of the ICW we have been through. Nice mix of cypress, pine and deciduous trees on all sides and the early autumn light is truly sublime. Monet would have felt right at home here.

It was absolutely still at sunset and, with the excellent fall light and beautiful cloud formations on the western horizon, we got some really nice sunset photos. Pork chops and fresh ears of corn on the BBQ for dinner; this is high livin’. Lovely, quiet night at anchor.

Heavy dew on the boat this morning, but even though we had all the portlights open, not a drop of water dripped through; i.e., the port visors work - yippee!! We spent the morning hanging the clock/tide clock/hygrometer/thermometer above the nav station seat and the “Inverna” print on the forward bulkhead in the salon. And trying to get my iPhone to sync the address book from the Mac; the contacts/address book on the iPhone mysteriously died yesterday - huge inconvenience. We heard from our pals Sam and Pat (“LongHawk”). They have left Jacksonville and are presently headed for Brunswick, GA. Does not look like they will catch us up this year.

I communicated with Anchors Away Boatyard in Hampstead, NC, who have offered free haul & splash and $250/month dry storage. They also have all the craftsmen I need to modify the waterline (i.e., move up the anti-fouling paint). Hampstead is about 60 miles closer to us than Beaufort and no further from Raleigh-Durham, so it looks like we will stop there for the winter.
