The temp dropped down to about 55F last night and we slept like babies under 3 blankets. After breakfast, we walked over to Hannaford Supermarket for a top-off of groceries. I put the lee-board back in place, applied another coat of Teak oil to the toe rail, inflated the Hobie kayak and hung it back on the port-side rack. After lunch, we had showers, the pulled out from the dock, filled up the diesel tanks, pumped out the holding tanks, and motored 3.6 N-m to Peaks Island, where we picked up a mooring ball for the night. Later we took the dinghy ashore for dinner with Debbie and George, friends of our Houston friends Jim and Robin, at their beautiful home on Peaks Island. Turns out the mooring ball, was right behind their house, so we took the dinghy into the beach right below their house and climbed up the stairs to the patio. We got back to the boat after 22:00. 43-39.517’N, 070-12.105’W.

After last night’s excellent dinner party, we slept in a bit, then loaded the bikes on the dinghy and took them ashore for a ride around the island. It is a beautiful island with sweeping views of Casco Bay on one side and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. On the Atlantic side, there is a long rocky beach where folks have built hundreds of stele; quite striking. We then took the ferry to Portland, had lunch there and did a bit of shopping; Terri found some nice yarn and I found the chart kit all the way to the Canadian border at Hamilton Marine, which is like West Marine on steroids. Back to the boat for dinner aboard and a bit of planning for the upcoming weeks.
