After yet another cool night at anchor, we had a nice al fresco breakfast in the solarium (after the sun had warmed it up). One of the local residents stopped by for a long chat just afterwards. We got the anchor up about 10:00 and motored the short distance (7.5 N-m) to The Basin (off New Meadows River), passing Bush Island, George Island, Yarmouth Island, Bear Island, and Cundys Harbor along the way. This is a bullet-proof hurricane hole, should we ever need one, and a very nice little cove in good weather. After lunch, we got the kayaks down again and had a good long paddle around the bay and checked out an eagle’s nest on the little island; the fledgling is still hanging around, but appears to have left the nest - parents were nowhere in sight. On the way back to the boat, we had a long chat with some more Mainers on their boat; these Maine folk are about the friendliest people we have run across. Dinner aboard again. 43-48.417’N, 069-51.125’W.
