Another beautiful day in Long Island Sound. We were away from the mooring ball at 10:30 and back out into the sound for a NE trip to Westbrook. There was very little wind until we got all the way over to the Connecticut side, where there was plenty, so we motor-sailed the whole way. Coming into the very narrow entry to Patchogue River at low tide was like I-45 in Houston at rush-hour, with yachts and dinghies running every which way. The wind had piped up to 22 kn by then, just to make it interesting. Anyway, we got up to the Brewer’s Pilot Point Marina fuel dock for diesel and a pump-out without incident and then moved to our slip at the rigging dock. Very nice marina, but it should be for $3/ft, even with the Brewer’s discount. We unlimbered the dinghy and took a trip up the Patchogue River to Bill’s Seafood, but it was not really worth the trip. Wish we could have got into Boom restaurant at the marina, but they were booked solid; message there, I believe. 41-16.282’N, 72-28.137’W.
