We woke to a cool, overcast morning. After breakfast, we walked up to town, trying to find a replacement memory chip for the Sony camera. We ended up walking all the way to Walmart - about 1.5 miles, one way - in the search, but came up empty-handed. Upon returning to the boat, I rowed back over to Parry Sound Marine to pick up the second toilet rebuild kit. Our dock neighbor, Rob, from “Ascania” came over for a long chat; “Ascania” is the name of a steam-ship from the 1940’s and 50’s that made regular runs between Liverpool and Halifax and brought many emigrants from Great Britain (and Europe) to Canada, including Rob’s parents. We finally got away from the dock at 11:40, and went over to Sound Boatworks to pump out the HTs and fill up with diesel. We then took a circuitous tour of Parry Sound (the body of water), including a run through Hole in the Wall, past Mowat Island, round Kilbear Point, a close pass of Kilcoursie Bay (with its mile-long sand beach), thru St. Aubyn Bay (for a look at Kilbear Marina), finally turning the corner and heading into Snug Harbour, a beautiful little bullet-proof bay, where we anchored near “Naut Home”. After we were settled, I did a quick, minor rebuild of the aft toilet, but with mixed results; the raw water flush now works again, but the inlet hose leaks at the entry port to the pump and I could not get it to stop (another job for tomorrow). We joined “Naut Home” for happy hour on their boat, then all went in by dinghy to Gilly’s (popular place as we had to wait for an hour to be seated) for fish and chips, returning to the boats after dark.

It rained again overnight and was still raining intermittently when we got up at 08:00. The forecast for the day was a bit iffy, depending upon which one to believe. We decided to stay put and do some chores and reading. I got the aft head rebuilt and borrowed a bit of “O” ring grease from Scott on “Naut Home”; it works much better now, but there is a crack on the barb for the raw water inlet, so it leaks when using raw water to flush - I’ll have to continue to flush with drinking water (which we have been doing for a couple of years anyway). We also cleaned out the bilge. It started to rain about 16:30, so we had happy hour and dinner aboard. About 20:00, Scott and Sylvie came over between rain showers for after dinner drinks and a chat; we stayed at it till midnight. They are heading back south tomorrow and we will head north.
