We were a bit slow getting up this morning after last night’s cordials. And it was a bit hard to get away from the dock, as there were more stories to swap between us, “Prince Arthur” and “Ra”. It is cloudy today, so “Ra” is having trouble charging up enough to get away. We will look for them in Chicago. We finally got away from the dock about 11:00, pumped out the HTs, bought a few gallons of fuel and were finally on our way at 11:30. Just as we pulled out of Drummond, a thunderstorm brewed up to the NW, but we were able to get through DeTour narrows without a problem. As we headed out into the bigger part of Lake Huron, we turned west and ran along the coast of the Upper Peninsula, with an uncomfortable, 3 - 4 ft quartering sea behind us, to the entry to Government Bay, where we anchored in 10 ft of water at 15:45. During the run west, one of our excess (and no longer required) bottles of Canola oil fell off the shelf where it was stored in the stern cabin and emptied 1 liter of oil onto the cabin sole and thence down into the bilge. We spent a nice hour cleaning up that mess. It rained off and on through the rest of the afternoon and evening. After dinner, we sat out in the cockpit until about 10:30 listening to the rest of John Grisham’s “The Testament” on Audible.
