Happy Bastille Day. Vive la France!! It rained a bunch during the night and the wind stayed steady at E 7-15, but the anchor did not budge an inch. We finally struggled out of bed at 08:30 and got ready to go. The anchor was aweigh before 10:00, just as it started to rain again. We rejoined the small craft channel and worked our way north through a myriad of rocks and islands, along a very crooked course. Just after we passed Pointe au Baril Light, it started to lightning in the vicinity, so we turned off the course up into Nares Inlet Channel to get in amongst some tallish trees. We loitered around for about half an hour while the thunderstorm passed, then headed back out. The wind was in the E the whole way and we motor-sailed for about an hour, finally arriving at Wrights Marina in Byng Inlet, Britt, ON at 14:30. I was able to order a replacement toilet pump, which will be waiting for us in Killarney in a few days. We spent the rest of the afternoon doing laundry and downloading chart updates.  We met a couple of fellow loopers, Chuck and Cyndi on “Neverland”, out of Tarpon Springs, FL; they are tied up at the marina in the next slip over.

Last evening, after I posted the blog, we met Bob and Diane aboard “Islandia” in the next slip. They came over after dinner for a chat and we ended up spending the evening together chatting and signing along with the guitar until well after midnight. After last nights libations, we slept in until well past 09:00, but woke to a beautiful, clear day. After breakfast, we went grocery shopping, although there was very little there to chose from. The Admiral did a bit more laundry in the afternoon and spent a couple of hours cleaning off the deck - amazing amount of dead fly, mosquito and spider detritus. We had dinner aboard and a quiet evening watching the Astros get beat by the Twins 4-2.
