We were up again before sunrise and pulled away from the dock a few minutes before 07:00. We could have hung out in Peoria for a while, but decided we would push on with the trip, to give ourselves a bit more leisure in the Tennessee Lakes. The temperature is still quite low - it got down to 46F last night and the high today was only 72F. It was only 4 miles to the Peoria Lock, but by the time we got there, even though there had been no evidence of hime earlier, the “Charlie G” was starting into the lock down-bound with a double set. The lockmaster advised we would have to wait for another tow headed up-bound, which also turned out to be another double set. So, we had to mill around for 4 hours. By 11:25, when we finally got into the lock, there were two other pleasure craft there to join us. This delay caused us to give up on out primary goal of the day - Bar Island - and stop at Quiver Island, where we anchored in 6.1 ft of water at about 16:15. After we settled in, I changed the oil and oil filter on the main engine. Another long day, with less than big miles to show for it - 9.25 hours to do 35.9 miles. But, we only have one more lock to get through on this river. We stayed awake long enough to see the Astros beat the Boston Red Sox 12-2.
