It was a lovely night at anchor; cool, quiet and calm. We snuffed the alarm at 06:30, but got up at 07:00 anyway, and were underway by 08:00. It took about 2 hours to get up to Lock 52, where we had to wait for another 1.5 hours. This time, however, the lockmaster was kind enough to actually say we would have to wait that long and that we were welcome to anchor just downstream of the lock and that he would call us 15 minutes before it was our turn. We locked through by 12:30 and motored on up the Ohio River to our planned anchorage at Cumberland Towhead Island, where we anchored at 14:45. We had a lovely afternoon, listening to the Astros hammer the Red Sox again 8-2, watching 4 or 5 eagles flying about, and had a lovely swim in the river in 78F degree water; very pleasant indeed. It was nice to have a relatively short travel day for a change. Then, we enjoyed happy hour, alfresco dinner, watched an absolutely stunning sunset and a nearly-full moon-rise, only slightly marred by the high, broken overcast. Life is good. Tomorrow, we head up the Cumberland River to the Tennessee Lakes and a few days at Green Turtle Bay Marina.
