Another pleasant night at anchor; cool and quiet, although we did rock a bit from the occasional distant barge wake and the wind hitting us broadside (since the current was holding us the other way). We awoke without mechanical assistance at 07:00 and were underway before 08:00 under overcast skies. About 11:30, it started to rain - the first rain we have had in about 4 weeks. The Barkley Lock loomed into view at 12:20 and we had to wait for about half an hour for a down bound tow to lock out. Then we went into the lock at 12:55 along with 3 trawlers and two small power boats and were lifted 57 feet in 20 minutes. Green Turtle Bay is just around the corner from the lock and we were tied up in the slip, having first pumped out and fueled up (30.9 gallons of diesel since Hoppies), at 14:15. The current plan is to stay here for 3 nights and do a bit of provisioning and planning for the coming wave of guests.

It rained hard all morning, so we lazed around the boat in the morning and tried to do a bit of planning for the rest of the month. After lunch, we walked up to the Thirsty Turtle to watch the Astros - Red Sox game (Game 3 of the ALDS); unfortunately, Boston won 10-3. Maybe tomorrow. The Admiral did the laundry after the game.

The morning dawned clear and hot, for a change. So, we cranked the air-conditioner back on. Finally finished a plan for the next two weeks, to cover our first round of guests; made reservations for marinas and car rentals at the start (Pebble Isle Marina) and finish (Grand Harbor Marina) of their visit. Our new friends from “Peregrine” stopped by for a chat - they made it in yesterday. We are down to one propane tank now, having emptied No. 2 yesterday, so we borrowed the courtesy car and drove to Daffenville to fill up the other two tanks; we are good for the rest of the year now. After lunch, we went up to the marina lobby to watch Game 4 of the ALDS (Astros - Sox); Astros won 5-4, thus clinching the ALDS - an afternoon well spent. They now move on to the ALCS and on 13 Oct, will play the winner of the Cleveland - NY series, which is tied 2-2; decider on 11 Oct. After the game, we did a few boat chores - boat washing mainly; the sump pump for the aft air-conditioner is not working, so will have to look at that tomorrow. Then, we went up to the YC for dinner. After dinner, we talked on the phone for 2.5 hours with our friends from Vancouver, finalizing the details of their visit to us, commencing 1 Nov.
