09:00 - N32-22.710’, W64-40.933’

What a difference a day makes. The front passed through early yesterday evening and this morning, it is calm in the harbor. After a last minute shopping run and clearing out of the country, we finally got away from the dock at 11:30. 

11:40 - cleared the Town Cut and into the open Atlantic Ocean. The water is a beautiful deep blue. 

12:20 - spotted whales feeding in the distance. Followed shortly by flying fish. 

12:45 - as soon as we passed the end of the shelf, the swells increased to 6’ to 8’ with occasional 10’. COG 050M, SOG 7.5Kn. Watches have been determined: Skipper Paul has 6-9, Navigator/cook Paul has 9-12, I have 12-3, and Dave has 3-6, a.m. and p.m. Paul B volunteered to cook evening meals. Dave and i will clean up. Eveyone is on his for all other meals. 

14:00 - we have sailed Bermuda under the horizon. 

15:00: N32-43.53, W64-19.50, COG 080T, SOG 8.0 kn. Wind SW 2-5, clear. Swell 6-8’, occasionally 10’ out of NW. Visibility unlimited. Mostly clear. 

18:00: N32-55.74, W63-58.83, COG 050T, SOG 7.1 kn. Wind SW 5-8, clear. Swell 6-8’ out of NW. 

 19:58 (Bermuda time) - Sunset. 

20:30: went to bed. Did not sleep until about 22:30. 

23:30: alarm woke me for shift.
