After yesterday’s excitement, we were a bit slow getting moving, and the good folks at the marina were a bit slow opening up, so we did not get away from the dock until after 09:30. We transited our last lock (Lock E-23) on the Erie Canal and, at Three Rivers Junction, turned right onto the Oswego Canal. We are headed downhill to Lake Ontario now and as a result of all the recent rain, the Oswego River/Canal was flowing at a fair old clip;  we had 1.0 knot of favorable current the whole way down the river. Five of the 6 locks we transited had the gates open for us, so it was straight in and down. Going down in locks is much faster than going up. We got to the penultimate lock (Lock O-7) just before a line of thunderstorms hit, so after we cleared the lock, we tied up to the canal wall to wait out the squall, even though we only had 1 more lock and half a mile to go. When the rain and lightning finally finished, it was too late to accomplish anything at the marina, so we decided to spend the night at the (free) wall and move on to the marina tomorrow. If we can get ready and the weather holds up, we may get the mast back up tomorrow afternoon. Otherwise, we will have to wait until Friday morning. Looking ahead, the weather looks good on Sunday for a crossing of Lake Ontario to Kingston, or wherever we decide to go. Dinner aboard, followed by a walk around the town of Oswego.
