Despite last nights libations, we were up and away at 08:00, watching the weather. It was only 2 hours to Sylvan Beach, on the east end of Lake Oneida, and a line of thunderstorms were due some time in the early afternoon. When we got to Sylvan Beach, it looked like we would have time to get across the 17 miles of Lake Oneida before the thunderstorms arrived, so we decided to go for it. About half way across, it became obvious that we were not going to beat the storms (either to Brewerton, on the west end, or back to Sylvan Beach), so we battened down the hatches, put on our foulies and life jackets, put all the electronics in the microwave and waited for it. It was a fine old thunderstorm, but none of the lightning strikes were within 0.5 miles, so we were fine. Lots of rain and very limited visibility for about 45 minutes, but we got through it fine. It was still raining when we pulled into the Ess-Kay Marina, so we just tied up and settled in for the evening. Another fine adventure survived. Dinner aboard. The boat next to us was in the marina Half Moon Bay Marina, back in Croton, so we had a bit of a reunion chat with them.
