We awoke groggily after last night’s fun. It was overcast and cool, but the weather and wind were fine for a departure from Halifax to McGrath’s Cove. I turned in the rental car and got a ride back to the RNSYS, we had breakfast, moved over to the fuel dock to pump out the holding tanks and finally got away from the Squadron at 11:40. We motored out of Halifax Harbour with SE3, which built to SE9 as we rounded Chebucto Head, where we hoisted the jib and motored sailed to the WSW with a large (1.5 - 2.0m swell from the SE). As we neared the turn-in to McGrath’s, a review of tomorrow’s forecast indicated that it may be wise to head on to Chester. We motor-sailed on and anchored in the Back Harbour at Chester at 17:30. As we finished anchoring, I heard someone shout my name, looked up and found that we had anchored right next to Max on “Nancy Lakin“, who we had met and last seen in Baddeck; small world.
