Another lovely night in paradise, followed by a beautiful morning; the summer continues. We got away from the dock before 09:00. The wind was fair and strong enough that we had the sail up and the engine off within minutes; we sailed all the way across St. Georges Bay to the north end of the Canso Strait and right up to the entry to the Canso Causeway Lock. The lockmaster made us wait for half an hour while he locked through a couple of other boats, but we locked through at 13:00. The wind was a bit flukey after that and we motored and sailed to Little Basin past the south end of the Canso Strait and off the SE corner of Cape Breton Island. We anchored by 15:00, all alone in a completely deserted inlet - The Little Basin - completely surrounded by a couple of small islands, in 15 - 18 knots of wind. Nice to be on the hook again.
