The wind died completely during the early evening, so it was absolutely silent on the boat (first time I could hear the ship’s clock ticking), until 03:00, when our daughter accidentally butt-dialed us. After we made contact and confirmed there was no emergency pending, sleep was a long time coming back. We finally got up and got the anchor aboard just after 09:00 and motored easily along the length of the Lennox Passage, through the Burnt Island lift bridge, arriving at St. Peter’s Lock at 12:00. We had to wait for 1.5 hours, as there was a problem with one of the lock gates. While we were waiting to lock through, we had a nice chat with the captain and crew of “Yankee Lady”, who had just arrived after a 4-day passage direct from Cape Cod. We were through the lock at 13:40 and tied up to the dock at St. Peter’s Marina before 14:00. It is actually hot here, at least by Maritimes standards - nearly 80F. After tying up, we walked into town to visit the Tourist Center and get the low-down on Cape Breton Island. Then back to the boat for dinner and a long planning session for the upcoming visit of our friends from Vancouver, John and Laurie.
