It was a lovely, cool, quiet night and we slept in again. The anchor finally came up just before 10:00 and we made our way north, meandering through Clark Cove, past Marble Mountain, past Militia and Malagawatch Points, finally turning back to the west into Denys Basin, reportedly a good place to watch eagles. The wind was light, so we motored all the way, although we did have the jib up for a while. Rather than hoist Swallow into the davits, as normal, we towed her today, just to see how she towed. She towed very well: after 24 miles, not a drop of water and it had no measurable effect on the normal boat cruising speed, whereas an 11’ inflatable would probably have knocked 0.5 kn off our speed if we had been towing it. The anchor was set in Denys Basin by 14:00 and we immediately went for a swim in 78 F water, oh bliss. It was such a fine afternoon, that I rigged Swallow’s sail up and went for a long sail, and even got the Admiral out for a spin; first time I’ve sailed with two people aboard and she sailed fine. This is another 5-star anchorage, beautiful scenery and not a house in sight, nor scarcely a boat.
