To catch the flood up Long Island Sound, we were up before 06:00 (ugh!). We let go the dock lines at 06:50 and motored east to Plum Gut, which connects Gardiners Bay to Long Island Sound. The wind was very light so we motored all day, arriving at Mt. Sinai Harbor, where we took a mooring ball from Ralph’s Fishing Station, before 14:00. It was rainy and foggy all day long, with visibility less than 1 mile; the last five miles before Mt. Sinai, the fog was very thick, with visibility less than 200 m. Once we got into the harbor, the fog lifted a bit and the sun actually came out and the skies cleared up completely about 16:00. We spent the afternoon planning out the next few days: it is a bit of a challenge to get through Hell Gate and the East River, plus Memorial Day weekend is upon us. Current plan is to spend tomorrow through Memorial Day weekend at Port Washington, 2 nights at Brewer Capri Marina and 4 nights on a Port Washington municipal mooring ball. On Tuesday, 26 May, we will shoot through Hell Gate on the morning tide and then run 32 miles up the Hudson River to Croton-on-the-Hudson.
