We were up early on this first day of fall to depart 30 minutes before HW slack at 06:58; i.e., we pulled away from our dock-mates at 06:30.  Sunrise is at 07:13, so it was still pretty dark when we pulled out, but it was no problem. There was a little bit of the flood still coming through the Grand Passage, but no more than 1 kn. As we departed Grand Passage and motored into the Bay of Fundy, it was practically clear, the wind was ENE 2 and the sea was glassy with a very slight swell working in from the ocean. The last of the flood, and later the ebb were more or less perpendicular to our route across Fundy, so proved to be no problem. We had no issues with commercial traffic and saw only three other boats all the way across, two of which were big freighters bound for St. John. The wind was light all the way across and we motored all the way to Seal Cove, arriving at 11:35 and rafting up to “Grateful One”. After lunch, we walked around the town and the old harbor, which used to be a thriving herring smoking and cleaning port. But nowadays, there are about 20 or so active fishing boats working out of here, plus the huge Atlantic Salmon fish farm located just outside the harbor. We did have a good walk along their fine beach. Back to the boat in time for tea, then happy hour and dinner aboard.
