I was not feeling too chipper last night and so, went to bed at 20:00; and then slept until 06:45 this morning. We got away from the dock (fishing boat, actually) at 07:30 and worked around the east end of Grand Manan Island, fighting the ebb tide (which arrived earlier than predicted, presumably because of the North wind) to Flagg Cove, at North Head, NB, which is the biggest town on Grand Manan. We were tied up in the harbour at Flagg Cove just after 11:00. After a quick lunch, we walked up into town and then onto the Swallows Tail Lighthouse, which is very picturesque. On a clear day like today, one can see the Maine coast to the west and the Nova Scotia coast way to the east. On the way back to town, we stopped and had a most excellent gelato at Bleu Marie, run by a lovely French lady. Back to the boat for a bit of planning (i.e., digging our Maine charts out of deep storage under the fore-peak berth), happy hour and dinner aboard, to consume the last of our Canadian wine, booze and illegal food (i.e., lamb, pork, fruit, eggs: all those bad things one cannot carry across the border from Canada to the USA - what a joke, what bureaucracy!, what a party).
