We slept like babies last night and awoke late to thick fog on the St. Mary’s River. But, we finally got away from the dock about 09:30 and headed down river against the flood, which was no big deal. At the mouth of the river, we turned right into the wind, which was blowing SW 14 - 18, for about 6 miles, before turning up into the Liscomb River. We went up the river for about 6 miles and then, as there was no room for us at the very small dock, anchored, fore and aft in the river adjacent to the Liscombe Lodge; the river is only about 120 - 150’ wide here, so it is recommended that a stern anchor be placed to stop the boat from swinging in the wind or current. We anchored bow into the current and stern into the wind, using the aluminum Fortress anchor on the stern; I ran it out using the dinghy. Then, we rowed into the lodge and took advantage of their pool, hot-tub and sauna, followed by an excellent meal of planked salmon, cooked over an open fire.
