Recovering from the previous night’s sleep deprivation, we slept in till 09:00. After a leisurely breakfast, we decided to forego the planned walk to Newton Lake and head a bit closer to Blind Channel. The anchor was aweigh at 11:30 and we motored out of Small Inlet into Kanish Bay and thence into the northern end of Discovery Passage, before turning right into Cordero Channel. The original plan was to go into one of the anchorages at Thurston Bay Marine Park, but the description of Heming Bay, and the promise of a hike up to Heming Lake, was intriguing, so we altered course slightly and headed to East Thurlow Island, on the other side of the channel. We were anchored by 14:30. As it turned out, we could not get up into the cove where the walk starts until after the water came up and by then, it was too close to happy hour to risk it, so we decided to save it for tomorrow. We finally got to eat the chicken kabobs from Granville Island Market that have been calling to me for the last 2.5 weeks. Yum, yum.
