It was overcast but dry when we got up. We went back into town for a light grocery shop and stopped in at the lavender shop to pick up some gifts. Back at the boat, we got away from the dock at 12:15. The wind was in the west, but very light, so we motored all the way through the San Juans and across Rosario Strait, tying up at Skyline Marine Center at 15:00. En route, we kept an eye on the Astros - LA Angels game; Houston won 6-2. I emptied the 5 gallon jerry can contents into the fuel tank, then topped up with 16.2 gallons of diesel. Then, we dropped, flaked and stowed the jib, dried and stowed the spinnaker and pumped out and cleaned out both holding tanks. We also pulled in the safety jack lines and emptied out the starboard cockpit locker.

Last year, to put things into perspective, we did 3402 N-m, so this was a much more relaxing journey, as well as somewhat shorter in duration.

Last year on this date, we were in Chicago, just entering the Chicago River to start down the Illinois/Mississippi/Ohio/Tennessee/Tombigbee River system on our way to Mobile Bay. Today, we collected the car from the summer storage facility, then spent the day getting the boat cleaned up inside and out. I also changed the oil and filter on the generator engine. We also met with the good folks from North Island Marine to discuss to winter projects (canvas repairs and modifications, and an electronic issue with the AIS transmitter, among other things). After tidying up ourselves, we had dinner at the A-Town Bistro.

We were up early to continue our preparations for haul-out. I changed the oil on the main engine, but not the filter, since I just did that a few engine-hours ago. We got the inside of the boat about as complete as we could do and completed winterization of the generator raw-water system and the air-conditioning system. At 17:00, we fired up the engine and moved over to the dock adjacent to the Travelift. Then we cleaned up ourselves again and went to dinner at Anthony’s.
