Up at the crack of dawn again, we removed all our personal effects from the boat into the car and completed winterization of the fresh water system. At 08:15, we started the engine one last time to turn the boat around so we could back into the Travelift (the fore-stay prevents us from going in bow first). By 08:30, “c’est le bon” was out of the water for the winter. The bottom paint is in remarkably good condition and will just need a light touch-up at the water-line and leading edges of the bow and keel in the spring; 1 gallon of Micron 66 will be more than sufficient. Also, the prop zinc is still about 50%; just goes to show that most corrosion occurs at marinas rather than at anchor. I have not counted up the total days in marina/at anchor, but I’m sure that it is about 1:2. After the yard guys had the boat blocked up in the storage yard, we completed winterization of the fresh water system, placed moisture absorbent in various places around the boat, hooked up and turned on the de-humidifier. We locked up and departed the boat at 12:10. I stopped into North Island Marine to ask them to have a look at the caulking between the plastic bushing and the hull on the rudder post.

Then, we took off in a SE direction, headed for Houston. We made it across the Cascades as far as Leavenworth, WA, where we stopped for the night at the Der Ritterhof Inn. We had a forgettable dinner at the Munchen Haus, although the town is really cool; it is a faux Alpine town, set up specifically to attract the tourist trade, but nicely done in spite of this.
