We were up relatively early and had the anchor up by 09:30. “c’est le bon” headed for Duncanby Landing to look for groceries (there were none), while “Massilia” headed back to Dawsons Landing to collect son Matt and girlfriend Julia (J2). We bought 61 liters (16.1 US gal) of diesel at Duncanby, then headed down Rivers Inlet. By 12:42, we were anchored in Fury Cove; we were last here in 2000 during our Queen Charlotte Island expedition. The Admiral and I rowed ashore to Fury I. and had a good stroll around: it has a beautiful shell beach on the inland side (obviously and First Nations midden) and tons of logs thrown up on the seaward side. We found a big chunk of a big wooden ship or barge (8’ x 12-15’ long, the inner planks were 5” thick with outer planks of 2.5”, and the ribs were 12” deep). Wonder what the history of this wreck is? “Invictus” (30’ double-ender with a bow-sprit), out of White Salmon, WA anchored in the cove later along with a 55’ power boat. “Massilia” joined us in time for happy hour, and we had a grand reunion with Matt and J2.
