We had the anchor up by 09:30 to head over to Dawsons Landing. We were tied up at the dock by 10:45. It was heartfelt goodbyes to all the young people (and Rockfish) before they caught the Grumman Goose back to Port Hardy about 13:00. The plane is a beauty; originally built in 1940, although nearly every piece of it has been replaced since. We spent the rest of the afternoon provisioning, cleaning and doing laundry. A grizzly bear showed up on the log boom near the fuel dock, then sniffed around the dog kennel out back until Ron finally scared it off with a couple of shotgun blasts. We finally got away from the dock about 17:30 and ran back to Johnston Bay. We had the remainder of the salmon for dinner.

We slept like logs last night on an absolutely still and silent boat. We decided to stay put for a day, so I tackled the aft holding tank. Removing the access cap showed that the tank was, in fact, empty, but that the tank wall adjacent to the external sensors was a bit “dirty”. Simply cleaning off the inside wall with a brush and water restored the sensors to correct readings. The macerator seems to be working, after all, and does not need to be replaced - yet. We spent the afternoon exploring the bay and making a block mat trivet out of nylon twine. Early to bed again.
